This cute little shark family is sure to delight. Use the journal cards for any card, planner or scrapbooking needs. Print on sturdy cardstock for best results and use a corner trimmer to round the edges. The curious child, the kind mother and the dorky but loveable father will make a great addition to your crafts. This set was created for free for the Wellness Self Care Planner group on Facebook
https://gum.co/sharks Many of us feel we need to organize, and we need the proper organization tools to do that; a home office, a fancy desk, all the supplies from the office supply stores and of course lots of plastic bins and time to do this in! But, in reality, what we really need to do is declutter. My housekeeper wisely told me to list 1-5 things every week on the local Buy Sell Trade pages with Facebook. Free ads, include photos, make them pick it up. Too easy. I am chronically ill and I can still do this. One doesn't have to inventory their whole house and have it available like a garage sale. Just pick an item you see lying around and get rid of it.
I listed a new cat window seat. I found the ad on Amazon and linked that so they could see what it is worth and details. It sold the first day. I got what I paid for it even. Something that had been an eye sore in my house for over a year was now going to be useful to someone else and I had an extra $20 in my pocket. This was inspiring. Another option is to box up and donate stuff to your local second hand stores. Some even give you tax receipts for your donations. This is a good way to get rid of a lot of stuff, maybe clothes from a decade ago, quickly and to be able to feel good as you are helping the less fortunate. If you really want to help, you can further sort the stuff into say homeless care packages or give specific items to selected people in need. If you don't know anyone who makes under a fair living wage, ask around. Ask church members if they know anyone in need. Donating straight to the needy for free instead of them having to pay for it second hand is even sweeter. You get to see the appreciation on their faces. Homeless people really need socks, winter jackets and blankets. Homeless women appreciate a purse full of baby wipes, sample size toothpaste, travel size soaps, a face cloth and dry fruit bars, nuts or beef jerky. Backpacks are also very useful. Use your imagination. Once the men who delivered my new bed saw my Goodwill boxes stacked up. I asked if Goodwill picks stuff up here as I had just moved to a new city. They said they weren't sure... but they would take it! I told them to go and pick through what they want and donate the rest. I think that was their plan to begin with as their faces light up once I gave them permission to take it for themselves and give away the reset. It was a win-win. 8 boxes of stuff in good or perfect condition were gone from my home to find another who appreciates and needs it more than me. At first when you declutter it seems like a overwhelming chore but with time you can get into a flow of twice yearly ensuring everything you have are things you want and need. Always have a To Donate box ready to be filled. If you buy something new, donate the older version. You do not need 6 old cell phones. We hold on to so much stuff for emotional reasons. Keep the memory but let the item go, or repurpose it. I have seen men's shirts sewn into quilts after father passes for the daughter. Or blankets sewn into teddy bears. A tea pot can make a beautiful plant planter. Another idea is to take a photograph and keep that instead of the item. Scrapbook your memories... everything goes into there and anything else you let go. For example cards. Do you have a box of cards? Look on Pinterest for ideas of how to reuse them. Donate to a school for kids art projects. The more we have the heavier we feel. The more we surround ourselves with what we need and what we love the more at peace and the more happiness we feel. Clutter is stressful. Part of living your best life is letting go of what no longer serves you. Do not be a slave to your junk; you are better than that. You deserve more than that. The clique "less is more," has been around forever for a reason. The more you have the more you worry about said things. The more you have the more you have to dust. The more you have the worse you feel when you open your closet or drawers. The more you have the higher the chances are that you worry about loosing it. Enjoy your possessions but do not let them posses you. Clear out so you can breath deeper. Make it a lifestyle. Delete messages from your email. Sort mail into bills and junk mail the day they come into the house. Have a basket and a recycle bin where you drop your mail. Do the dishes every night so you wake up to a clean organized kitchen. Chaos creates more chaos. If you have a system you follow it will soon become habits and they you no longer even need to think about it, you will just be living this new lifestyle of only keeping what you need. Yes, you can need art and whiskey. I am not saying you literally should only own what you need. Working hard so you can have luxury items is not a bad thing in and of itself. Get the Turkish Cotton towels... but then donate your old towels to a animal rescue organization, they always need towels. Keep your ear open for anyone mentioning a need. You may have something they could appreciate and use more than you. One of my favorite things to do is give someone something they need. I had a neighbour who was leaving her spouse and she needed silver wear, coffee cups, a portable heater, curtains, and a bike to get to and from work. Well, I had like 4 sets of silverware (getting married and keeping everything from when you where single creates double of what you need, this is a great place to get rid of stuff) so I gave her one, I gave her 6 coffee cups and I had a new heater from my old house I no longer needed, my old curtains and even a like new bike! I gave her the brand new backpack, helmet, lock and chain too! It felt awesome. Oh she took my iron bedframe too. Yes, I could have sold this stuff and probably got a grand from the bed and bike alone, but giving to someone in need felt really good. I have given away makeup items to friends who need something just for their grad or wedding, so they don't have to buy something they won't use again. I have given away my old Tupperware and Swiffer sets when I got new pretty ones. I have given away clothes that no longer fit to people I know would love it; a cashmere light blue sweater to a girl who loved blue. I have given pretty hair clips and even jewelry away, things I once loved but now just like. When someone squeals about how they love something I have, if they love it way more than me and I don't really need or want it I use this as a time to donate to someone else's happiness. I have given house décor, art, even Birkenstock sandals: they hurt my feet but I saved them, "because they were expensive." Well, someone said they needed to buy new Birkenstock sandals because it is the only shoe they wear and I asked, "what size are you?" She couldn't believe it when I brought them over to her house and I was happy they had a home where they could be useful now. If you love purses like I do you have too many and trust me it feels good to rehome some! I hope these give you some helpful ideas to declutter your home. |
