So, when you try to change a bad habit, instead of focusing on what not to do, replace it with a new habit.
It is much easier to create new habits than it is to stop bad ones.
For example, if you want to stop smoking, anytime you want to smoke use your hands for something else; or do something you can not do while smoking such as play the piano, draw, write or type or go for a run or brisk walk.
